Drake’s surprise album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late hits No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart on it’s opening week. This is his fourth chart topping album released by the Canadian hip hop superstar. According to Nielsen Music, the album sold approximately 535,000 units as of Sunday, Feb 15. Although his album was available to stream online, his smashing record sales is very impressive.
Thank Me Later sold 447,000 copies in it’s opening week. Take Care sold 631,000 in it’s opening week. Nothing Was The Same sold 658,000 in it’s opening week. All debuting at #1, this makes it his fourth number 1 album by sales in his first week. This is a great look for Canadian hip hop. Now’s it’s time for Canadian artists to get to work since Toronto and the rest of Canada is being watched for the next big artist!
