22-year old Toronto native Haley Smalls dropped her new visual, directed by NexGenArts. For her latest “Not in Love” is produced by Megaman and is off her new mixtape “This Is Me”. The video opens up with Smalls laying in bed, eyes to the ceiling as the bold, white title of the track appears over her face as she contemplates her place in her relationship. The song carries a soft, yet emotional tone as you can assume that Smalls is singing from personal experience. It is a smooth r&b ballad, often repetitive, but it works. While the choice of scenery was nice, Yonge and Dundas lit up at night, based on the content of the song I wish the narrative of the video showed more of Smalls’ character’s emotional struggles of being caught in the crossroads with a lover, as the song suggests. None the less, it is a dope track, carried by a beautiful voice. I look forward to hearing more from this songstress. “This Is Me” is available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and Spotify.
