Jazz Cartier Announces North American Tour

Capitol Records recording artist Jazz Cartier – named as “one of the leaders of a new wave in hip-hop” by Noisey – will kick off a North American headline tour on April 12 in London, ON at RumRunners. The run will include shows at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City (April 25) and The Roxy in Los Angeles (May 17). Red Bull Sound Select will join as official tour partners for the Canadian concert dates. Tickets available for purchase at http://www.jazzcartier.com/tour/.

Cartier, who was one of the most talked about debut acts at SXSW 2016, returns to the festival for a performance at Pigeons & Planes/Staple Pigeon’s “No Ceilings” showcase on March 18. Other festival performances include Rolling Loud in Miami, NYC’s Mysteryland USA and WAYHOME in Oro-Medonte, ON. See below for itinerary.

Covering his sold-out 2016 show at S.O.B.’s in New York City, Billboard observed, “Throngs of Jazz fans ranging from college students to middle-aged adults swarmed the intimate hot spot…Attendees reveled in his brash approach.” Forbes said, “the Toronto emcee’s performance is stuffed with powerful choruses laid over bass-boosted instrumentals, and mosh pits formed at Cartier’s behest.” At Lollapalooza, he pulled out his full-on rap daredevil act, climbing up incredibly high stage scaffolding, prompting VIBE to note, “[he] made his Lollapalooza debut an unforgettable one.”

Cartier’s new single, “Tempted,” impacts U.S. radio this week. It was recently given its world premiere by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio. The track, which was produced by T-Minus and Lantz, has already charted on Spotify’s global Top 50 Viral chart. Listen to “Tempted” HERE.

“Jazz Cartier’s self-released Marauding In Paradise is one of the most confident, fully-realized debuts from a Toronto artist in recent years,” said PitchforkThe Fader praised it as “a tough, layered coming of age story stuffed with paranoid retellings of late nights and dark schemes, all braided over gut-punching beats.” His second mixtape, 2016’s Hotel Paranoia, was named as one of best albums of 2016 by Pigeons and Planes, which marveled at how it was “stacked with hit after hit. There are no filler tracks here.”

XXL Magazine hailed Cartier as the No. 1 “Canadian artist you should know” and he’s been the subject of three cover stories in the Toronto Star, Canada’s largest daily newspaper. He played 100+ concert dates in 2016, including a sold-out European run and providing direct support on Post Malone’s 41-date “Hollywood Dream” tour.
