For those who don’t know you, tell us a little bit about yourself and where you’re from.

I was raised on hip-hop from raps golden era, the late 80’s early 90’s. I’m one third of the rap group “Shades”, from Winnipeg, Canada! We were one of the first groups out of my city to get national exposure.

You’re currently signed to Move Right Music. How did that come about? How has it helped your career?

I had finished a new body of work and was shopping it around looking for the right situation, I reached out to Craig McMilan from Move Right and let him sit with the music for a while and he was on board. He talked about his vision for his new label and it seemed like perfect timing. I’m the priority over there right now and were all working hard towards the success of this project.

The music scene is definitely growing. What do you think of the Canadian hip-hop scene right now?

I love it! I feel like Canadian Hip Hop’s sound has evolved so much over the last 10 years. It’s finally being accepted and taken seriously on an international level. Our country is putting out some of the best rap music in the world right now.

Your new EP “Goin Away Party” is fire. What is your favourite track on it?

Id have to say “Memoirs”. I really think I painted the picture on that one, just reflecting on everything my mother and I went through while she was raising me as a young single mother. A lot of my peers I grew up with came from similar backgrounds. I know when they heard the song, it hit home.

How did you link up with Rich Kidd and JRDN for the track “Tonight”?

Well I met them both through mutual friends at different times. I was working with Rich Kidd first and got him to drop a verse on one of my records. I re-connected with JRDN from a few years back from meeting at the Juno’s. I hit him up and let him know what I was trying to do with the music, he recorded a hook I wrote and the rest is history. I thank them both for helping me out.

Do you have any new releases coming up? Is their anything new happening?

We are still pushing the “Goin Away Party” project, I want as much ears as possible to hear the music, but I’m working on new material right now as well I would like to release sometime next year! Look out for the “One Life 2.0” video coming soon!
