New Music Friday: Featuring Lil Tjay, YK Osiris, Roddy Ricch, Baka Not Nice

Today was a great day for music in the hip hop scene, artists from all over the globe released new music. Here are my favorite released for October 11th:

Lil Tjay: True 2 Myself – Album

Tjay’s highly anticipated debut album officially released, featuring hits “F.N.”, “Leaked”, Ruthless”, and “Hold On”. The album overall is pretty solid, I found that some of the songs were repetitive but the tracks that really stood out were “Post To Be” featuring Riley Lanez and “Sex Sounds”. I was also really surprised by the remix on “Leaked” featuring Lil Wayne. Really enjoy seeing Wayne on a track, it’s been a minute since we’ve heard from him and it was very refreshing.

YK Osiris: The Golden Child – Album

Similar to Tjay’s debut album, I found YK Osiris was somewhat repetitive but had a little more diversity. Osiris’ album features “Worth It” remixed with features by Tory Lanez and Ty Dolla Sign while including “Ride” featuring Kehlani. My favorite songs on the album were definitely “Mind Games” featuring Russ, and “Sexual”. To be honest I would have never thought Osiris and Russ would be on a track together but they did compliment each other very well.

Roddy Ricch: Big Stepper – Single

Roddy Ricch’s “Big Stepper” was a decent song but I believe does not meet up expectations to his other singles such as “Every Season”, or “Die Young”. I found it catchy but there needed to be a more upbeat or hype feeling to the song to make it feel like a Roddy Ricch song. Still would suggest to check out his newest single.

Baka Not Nice: Up – Single

Of course, I had to show love to one of Toronto’s legends Baka Not Nice. This year Baka has been pretty quiet with music, only releasing his EP “My Town” and after today his single “Up”. The song had a similar style to his EP, but I found was not as strong compared to his track “Caddy’s” featuring Juicy J. Hoping he drops more music before the end of 2019.
