From the outside looking in, you would assume that Toronto is the only home to quality hip-hop because of Drake and just the general buzz around ‘the 6″, but there is so much more talent surrounding the city, and this dude right here is giving evidence of that with every single release. Coming out of Mississauga, Nu Money Gang Ent. rapper Syph is a beast, especially with the release of his new tape, “Rookie Of The Year”. For his first major project, the dope body of work can definitely hold its own against a lot of big name artists senior tapes.
The mixtape had two separate releases, there is the normal 13 track release that was dropped on HNHH, which is available for free stream and download, then there was the Deluxe release which is available for free stream on SoundCloud and available for purchase on iTunes. The Deluxe version features 2 additional extremely fire tracks. Despite being titled “Rookie Of The Year”, Syph’s sound is far from novice, he delivers quality sounds on every single track on the project. He also brings a number of heavy weights to the table, including Belly, Keegan Daniro, Rowdy Rebel, Tory Lanez, JRDN, Ryme Minista and a feature from Young Scooter on the Deluxe addition. Based of the features alone, you know it’s a fire tape, but there is no debate that he holds his own on these tracks despite the weight these features hold.
The tape has a number of different sounds, that will appeal to everyone, from the ladies to the club heads to the cats putting in work in the trap.
