Teen rapper “Manzy” from Newfoundland got suspended and kicked off school team for rap video

Manzy is a teenage rapper from Grand Falls-Windsor in Newfoundland is suspended from school and kicked off the basketball teen over his music video Sleep Again. He is seen smoking what appear to be marijuana in the video although before the video starts he states “any props used in this video that show resemblance to any illegal materials or actions are 100 per cent props and should not be taken seriously.” Not only did Manzy get suspended, but also his director “Lucas Hillier” was suspended and kicked off the team as well.

“In this particular case, the school was put in the video and images that condone drug use were conveyed, and certainly that’s not something that we would want as representing EVH or any of our schools,” said Bronson Collins, assistant director of education with the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District.

“We want our students to be responsible decision makers, making good decisions for themselves.”

Although the video led him into trouble with school, he has garnered a lot of buzz from this. The video was released on December 25, 2015 and currently it’s sitting at over 120,000 views (as of January 8, 2016). This track isn’t too bad itself, the hip hop scene isn’t as active in Newfoundland, however Manzy is definitely holding it down. Be sure to check it out below.
