Jazz Cartier – Marauding in Paradise (Mixtape Stream/Download)

First impressions of this mixtape are; whoever this guy is he has been at this rap thing a while now, this is a professional tape, these beats are cold, is he affiliated with A$AP… Travi$ Scott? Well before getting into those things let’s set the stage right, Jazz Cartier is a 21 year old rapper hailing from Toronto, and this is his debut mixtape and arguably one of the coldest tapes coming out of the 6 right now. The 16 track tape, “Marauding in Paradise” was released for stream and download on April 15th with a few of the featured tracks already reaching over 100k streams on SoundCloud.  Jazz brings a gang of different sounds and styles on this tape, he goes from a calm, more sentimental track like “Feel Something” to a more raw trap sound on “Holy Shit” and “The Downtown Cliche”, jumps to a darker trap sound on “New Religion” and “Dead or Alive” and then makes a move to a groovier sound with “Rose Quartz/Like, Crazy”. He teamed up with local producer Michael Lantz for most tracks, but outsourced the production on “Downtown Cliche” with Burd & Keyz and Sevn Thomas, and also on “Rose Quartz/ Like, Crazy”  which was produced by Toro y Moi. This tape is already making noise all over Toronto and getting mad love from our American neighbours. Check this tape out below, download it, blast it and make sure to keep Jazz Cartier on your radar because if it isn’t obvious from this tape, he is about to come up.
